Duluth 2007

The New Windy City

Sept 15, 2007
A new record of participation for Team Rainbo was reached this year as 46 pro, advanced and fitness skaters braved the speed traps of Wisconsin for a weekend of racing and partying in Duluth. The weather proved dry, a welcome relief from last year. Last year when it rained throughout the race for the first time in event history. However the weather had two more tricks up its proverbial sleeve; 28 degrees at start time and 12 to 15 mile an hour head winds. Ladies and gentlemen, this one hurt. Times suffered as did legs and mustaches. I needed to cut my power gels with a blow torch and I learned to skate low, lower at all times then the fella in front of me. Oh did I mention I worked to keep someone in front of me at almost all times. That wind was wicked. Here's a small sample of what it was like before and after the race.
